Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is the Canadian Foundation and the American Foundation the same?

No. The Canadian Foundation is a separate legal entity. We have a relationship with the MDRT foundation in the USA and the MDRT Association, but we are not legally bound to one another other than a shared network and mutual respect.

2. Can the Canadian MDRT Foundation help me get membership with the MDRT Association?

In order to become a member of the MDRT Association, you will have to contact them.

3. Can I put in a grant application without a sponsored knight?

No. In order to put in a grant application you must have a knight of the MDRT Foundation, who is also a member of the Canadian MDRT Foundation provide you with a cover letter.

4. Can I be a member of the foundation without being a member of the Association?

No. To be a member of the Canadian MDRT Foundation, you must first be a member of the MDRT Association.

5. How do I become a member of the Canadian MDRT Foundation?

You must first be a member of the MDRT Association, and then you must make a pledge to the Foundation. At this point, you will be granted membership, and then you can make sponsorship requests on behalf of charities.

6. I am a charity and I would like to put an application in for a grant but I don’t know a member of your Foundation. Can I have a list?

No. As part of the privacy legislation, we cannot provide you with a list of our members, or the Association’s members.  You must find this information on your own.

7. What exactly do you do?

The Canadian MDRT Foundation collects donations from members to distribute yearly to Canadian charities exclusively who qualify vis-à-vis the application process which can be found at [Link to application]
